Desert Blend is an all-natural, delightful blend of sea salt, sucanat (dehydrated sugar cane), and three chiles: Ancho, Mulato and Pasilla peppers. Ancho chiles are dried poblano peppers, and very commonly used in Mexican cuisine. Mulato peppers are very popular and looks like the ancho, but it’s darker and sweeter. It’s fairly mild and has an earthy flavor. Pasilla peppers are the dried version of the chilaca chile. It’s long, black, and wrinkled, and a standard ingredient in mole sauces. Although these are chile peppers, this flavorful trio doesn’t pack much heat. It is a southwest seasoning salt or grill rub which transforms ordinary foods into mouth-watering culinary creations.
Use it on everything from chicken, beef, pork to vegetables and salads. Also great in dips, stews, egg dishes.
